Rising sea levels caused by climate change may one day cause Tuvalu to disappear into the Pacific Ocean and I thought this was my chance to meet and photograph people from an endangered country, a future possibly extinct nation.

Of course countries come and go from time to time. Some exist and then disappear only to reappear again. This has happened to Poland at least twice. Some, like Tibet, do not exist at the moment but I hope like many people that one day it will make a happy return.

These changes are of course of a political nature, while the world might soon lose Tuvalu due to the physical forces of nature, in this case manmade physical changes. If this is the case then there will be no chance for Tuvalu to return and it will be lost to us forever and all its people displaced, a people without a homeland.

The trouble is the people of Tuvalu cannot do anything about their situation and it might already be too late and that is something we all need to think about. That is why I chose to photograph these two ladies.
