We moved to London when I was two and I can’t remember living anywhere else.
I didn’t even realise I was a Londoner until recently, it’s one of those things that you don’t really notice until you’re out of the city, and you pine for it. I think having been born abroad, and having grown up with the notion of another ‘home’ means I saw London from a foreigner's eyes. What I love most about London are all its contradictions. Like being on the bus and being incredibly intimidated, to finding yourself somewhere familiar where you feel totally at home. There’s a real diversity, and being a Londoner means you get the best of history and culture, mixed with the new and avant-garde.
The city is beautiful and I feel so lucky to live somewhere with such great history, and with such a range of different types of people. For me, I love London for its brief moments of poetry and absurdity.
