I’m a Londoner – part of a bigger community which has a lot of tolerance and room for all kinds. I feel very honoured to have had my picture taken by Helen – she is a brilliant artist.

The giraffe antelope was shot by either her father or grandfather. So we bonded over our love of taxidermy (mine from looking at dioramas) and I gather her family went in for big game hunting on a grand scale! She said she remembers crates arriving as a child. I think this picture is the best one from the shoot I did at her house in Fulham and much closer to the ideas behind my own practice – particularly hiding, merging and the use of the real eye and the glass eye.
